[Disclaimer - Warning!] You are about to read information that pertains to High Voltage and potentially dangerous electrical components and systems that if miss-used or improperly assembled could result in death. By reading this you agree to taking your time, reading everything I have to share with you and also doing a little safety research on the side before you get ahead of yourself and get hurt! You also agree that I have no control over your actions or the actions of others who may not hold me liable for the miss-use of information provided here that results in death or damage or anything else that I could be blamed for. Use this information wisely and at your own risk! This is a primer on the fundamental process that is responsible for making colloidal gold. This is a short because the basic process is easy to understand.
A. The basis for Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD the common name of the process we use) is the vaporization of a substance, typically metal, in this case gold, and deposit that vapor on a surface. B. A colloid may come in many forms all having the common denominator of high surface area or high dispersion. Vaporizing metal is our method of dispersion. C. The required dispersion of the gold by vapor is the result of focused heat to bring gold to the required temperature for it to become a vapor. D. Electricity under High voltage is required to generate the focused heat to vaporize gold. E. As water is the desired environment for our colloidal gold we are required to submerge the electric arc underwater for the dispersion of gold vapor to adhere to the water and make a gold colloid. F. The entire process is nothing more than an electric arc, between two gold wires, with the arc submerged under the surface of the water. G. It is also possible to use an open air arc between the gold wires using an air jet to deposit the gold in the surface of the water however this process variation tends to plate the water surface with gold rather than create the fine balance that allows gold and water to exist together in the colloidal form we desire.

Though some people have had success with power supplies that ran 48VDC or so and used long periods of time with an electrolytic setup the results were very poor for making a colloidal gold. Around April/May 2006 I made a breakthrough in the use of an electrolytic process (much the same as colloidal silver is made) that would process gold into a colloid. The upwards limits are generally 45ppm for a nice red colloidal gold Click here to find out about the Ovo Background photo is a set of glass insulators for 22 gage gold wires from the original proof of concept colloidal gold auto-advance.
