Magnetic Motors (Is it possible to use permanent magnets to generate power?) |
|
|
I have spent years working on the idea as many have. Usually the results have me return my patience to some other task that seems more redeeming but ultimately I find myself return to the very tempting idea that there must be a way to use permanent magnets to generate power from whatever 'physics' happen to allow it. (never mind the technical explanations about curie points Lentz Laws...) Take this modified Tomi Track design. Yes I made this design myself however anyone could have come up with this as it is nothing more than a combination of ideas already shown to have potential. I know the 1/3 circular bits are not exactly TOMI (Theory of Magnetic Instability) but in practice it is close enough I believe to simply say TOMI (in honor of the one who first put down on paper the concept)

Tell me that doesn't look tempting to build and test. I would show you the original drawing I used to overlay my ideas but like so many of the sites that support the idea that a magnetic motor can be built that does work and is over unity, things do change over time and web sites are no longer published. (most likely a lack of interest when devices fail to give working results) Several magnetic motor ideas have shown some hope for development of a working magnetic motor. I post the design above only because it is based on a known working principle and as such has the potential to do useful work more so than designs that are based purely on speculation. A simple and most noteworthy design is the SMOT (Simple Magnetic Overunity Toy). This one simple but very effective magnetic device has been the cornerstone of hope for the last few years. Sadly no one has developed this farther other than a few rare examples that are no longer on the internet. It is apparent from those who have tinkered with the idea of closing the loop on a SMOT that there is more to be said on the subject even though no one has demonstrated clearly that it could work. http://jnaudin.free.fr/html/smot4cl.htm Here is something to think about (in light of what so many critics say about the SMOT)
I am currently working out how to verify this, a proof of concept. As might be obvious, if you can identify the means of conservation that allow for the SMOT to do it's thing then you can also engineer a device that takes better advantage of the property. It is for that reason that I submit the above diagram. (Conservation of energy via Angular Momentum)
You have to consider that the Over Unity of the SMOT (as best worked out by J Naudin) is a COP of 1.13) So, if you have such a small over unity (.13%) then you need to increase the energy for the entire cycle to help overcome typical losses such as friction. Primarily, if rotation is important then we must also recognize that friction is part of the system itself and needs to be as minimal as we can make it. I modified a rather small Dynamo I had build because the parts were handy as a whole module and all I needed was to put an O ring around the already balanced rotor core to make the rotating magnetic element. Glue that rotor to an armature and make a hinge that is fastened to a central bearing. Below I have 2, aluminum ramps that were gaged to be high enough to give the rotor approximately 50% travel to meet the other SMOT ramp.
I have large stacks of circular magnets to work with about 3 inches in diameter that look useful but so far are making it difficult to setup the SMOT dynamic properly. I will have more as I get this going.. the entire point is, to close the loop and demonstrate it. Demonstrations of working OU systems are lacking so that is my goal. Updates as I have developments. (New Shop and lab is being setup.. more to come shortly.. (today is October 26,2009 )) And by the way Boo!
The one key aspect I keep finding myself return to is this... Asymmetry is the key to a working permanent magnetic motor! So I began to break down the complexity of what many designs offer to the extent that what we have is nothing but the most fundamental of a magnet and how it could be exploited for our purposes. This idea has not been tested properly but it gives us a place to begin as it is the most simplified thing I could come up with at the time. We always return to the question can it work? I feel that maybe a more simple examination may still be required before we can define exactly the kind of arrangement that would allow for a magnetic motor to become manifest. In the while I offer you some interesting food for though that should definitely get the inspiration working. Below is a design, the very picture that got me seriously interested in magnetic motor design. I did build my own version of this and a few more that I wish I had the photos to scan. It was years ago before I had the luxury of a digital camera so sadly those photos are lost. If you truly want to torment yourself you can examine a design I came up with that was derived from the photo above. Before you get too excited I should tell you that my Star Drive idea will not work as it is shown. What I offer you is to explain to yourself why it shall not work while keeping in mind the active word 'Asymmetry'. As far as this information goes you are encouraged to borrow or use whatever might be of use in your developments towards a magnetic motor design that works. Check here: http://freeenergynews.com/Directory/MagneticMotors/index.html PES network is a good place to find a directory on the latest and most interesting magnetic motor developments. As always there is more later...
